The Department of Mechanical Engineering has over 15 state-of-the-art laboratories including Basic Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Heat-transfer, Theory of Machines, Robotics, Production Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Vibration etc. Modern computing facilities are available for students at the Computer Aided Design and Computer Integrated Manufacturing Laboratories.

With a strong collaboration from Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, the department has established an Excellence Centre in Material Engineering through which the department continues to carry out activities with direct social impact (metal matrix, smart materials, and electric vehicle technology) and promote translational research.

DRONE

Drone:

This project is concerned with the design and development of a drone with video recording and weight lifting function.

HOVER BOARD

Hover Board:

Hover board is a two wheeled drive running on battery for movement purpose. It has been designed by the students for surveillance purposes and also for carrying load with external attachment of pulley.

Golf cart

Golf Cart:

The concept behind the product is to design and manufacture an eco-friendly electrically driven, dynamically stable, safe, and ergonomically accessible multi- utility golf kart vehicle for general applications that may be easily accessible to the institutions, hospitals for loading purposes.

3-D printer

3-D printer:

3D printing is called as desktop fabrication. It is a process of prototyping where by a structure is synthesized from a 3d model. The 3d model is stored in as a STL format and after that forwarded to a 3D printer.

Humonoid Robot

Humanoid Robot:

This project is concerned with the development of a Humanoid robot which is built upon the Raspberry Pi platform and Python language. This robot uses wheels for mobility and utilizes the Raspberry Pi platform for its voice recognition competencies.

DEPARTMENT LABORATORIES

  1. Industrial Engineering Lab: This Lab provides the tools and equipment necessary to introduce students into the field of modeling, simulation, standards, work design and productivity improvement. It gives undergrads key notions about the design, planning and optimization of production and manufacturing processes.
  2. MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform used by millions of engineers and scientists to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models.MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages.
  3. Vibration Lab : is a modern facility for performing a wide range of experiments in the field of vibration. The objective of this lab is to impart knowledge to perform vibration analysis for mechanical components.
  4. Thermal Lab : The Lab emphasizes provides lot of opportunities to the students to study different types of IC engine, boiler performance study and to do their innovative projects. The performance test, heat balance test, the retardation test and emission test can be carried in variety of IC engines like petrol/diesel fueled with single/double/multi cylinder engines with modern mechanical/electrical/hydraulic loading devices.
  5. Heat Transfer Lab provides fundamental and industrial knowledge about modes of heat transfer, like conduction, convection and radiation, and their application. This lab course is primarily being offered to the III Year B. Tech Mechanical Engineering Students to make them understand the principles of conduction, convection, radiation boiling and condensation modes of heat transfer and principles of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
  6. Production Engineering Labalso known as manufacturing engineering, is the design, development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and control of all processes in the manufacture of a product.
  7. Basic Mechanical Engineering Lab : The Lab is often considered as the most basic type of engineering work. This lab course is written with a purpose to bring in understanding of the basic concepts of mechanical engineering and develop as core professional.
  8. Fluid Mechanics Lab: The Lab provides training to undergraduate and graduate students in flow measurements. It is an introductory course where flow behavior, fluid forces and analysis tools are introduced. In this lab the students can perform various practicals in which they can determine the discharge, efficiency of Hydraulic turbines, (Pelton wheel, Francis and Kaplan), find the met centric height, perform Bernoulli’s theorem etc.
  9. Theory of Machines LabThis Lab to impart practical knowledge on design and analysis of mechanisms for the specified type of motion in a machine. With the study of rigid bodies motions and forces for the transmission systems, machine kinematics and dynamics can be well understood.
  10. Mechatronics Lab This Lab imparts skill and knowledge on Modular Automation Production Systems by implementing the automation skills achieved from Basics of PLC and SCADA system. Students are trained on the Modular Mechatronic Systems(MMS) which is designed to understand the industrial production process.
  11. FEM Lab : A mathematical modeling lab that subdivides a large system into smaller, simpler parts that are called finite elements.Typical problem areas of interest include the traditional fields of structural analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow, mass transport etc.
  12. Mechanical Workshop lab : The lab is to get hands on knowledge of several Workshop Practices like carpentry, fitting, welding, machining etc and learn safety regulations to be maintained in a shop floor. This laboratory is scheduled for 1st and 2nd semester for all engineering students.
